Color POP: Color of the Year 2010

Color POP will be an ongoing feature here at The Stylish Girls Guide. Color POP is all about trending colors and how to use them. I chose to call this feature Color POP because POP can stand for popular=trendy colors. Or, POP as in pop of color; the way you introduce a color into an outfit or your home in small amounts that make a BIG impact!  So the first pick for Color POP is: Dumb Roll Please . . .
Turquoise

Color POP-Chunk of Turquoise
Turquoise has been voted color of the year by Pantone, the global authority on color. Pantone refers to the hue as inviting and luminous. Leatrice Eismand, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute explains that, “In many cultures, Turquoise occupies a very special place in the color world. It is believed to be a protective talisman, a color of deep compassion and healing, and a color of faith and truth, inspired by water and sky.
I personally love this color; it is like the black of the blue family of colors. How, you say? Turquoise pairs well with just about any other color. Turquoise it the perfect balance of warm and cool tones. It’s a harmonious line between blue and green.

In your wardrobe you can pair it with neutral or browns to add a pop of excitement. Paired with Black it is sophisticated and calm. Cant’ you see yourself in that stylish black dress, you know that one that makes your legs look great? Now imagine a fabulous Turquoise necklace. Yeah, that’s the look! If you want a real Color POP pair it with reds, pinks, and yellows. It is also seasonless and genderless and can be worn year-round by both men and women.

In your home Turquoise is transporting, as stated by Pantone; it makes you feel like you are on vacation. Using Turquoise in your home as an accent or as a main color makes it both inviting and serene. And, because Turquoise pairs so well with most any color adding it to an existing room as an accent is an inexpensive way to added richness to architecture and POP!
